An overcast sky combined with a low January sun created some wonderful contrasts. Low tide on the north shore of the Minas Basin. When I look at the rock formation it reminds me of a character from the B.C. newspaper cartoon strip.

Natural Sandstone formation that appears to be cat's head. Sadly it no longer stands, having succumbed to the ravages of winds and tides. A popular hiking destination along the Minas Basin coastline at Five Islands Provincial Park, Colchester County.

Miss Hazel showing off her hunting skills in the deep grasses along the edge of our yard. She began to show up on our doorstep when she was approximately eight weeks old. It wasn't long before her established herself as a permenant fixture in our home.

Carboniferious Period

Joggins-Lower Cove, NS Jan 2023

A cast of tree that lived approx: three hundred twenty million years ago during the Carboniferious Period. This sample and other fossils are constantly being exposed as the cliff face is eroded by the tides and weather. For scale the hand made walking stick is ~ 1.2 meters in length.

A popular hiking destination near Soley Cove Colchester County. A small cove carved into the soft red sandstone by thirteen meter tides. A word of caution, if you intend to hike this shoreline... Know Your Tides!

Counting Rocks
